Biotin carboxyl carrier protein

Abbrev. BCCP

E.C. 6.4.1.2

Biotin carboxyl carrier protein plays a central role in the acetyl-CoA carboxylase complex. It acts as a beam responsible for translocation of a biotin molecule, which is covalently attached to a specific lysyl residue, between two other subunits of heteromeric acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase, namely carboxyltransferase and biotin carboxylase.
